why this site?

I believe with all my gay little heart that making bad art is not only a human birthright, but a human imperative. everyone deserves to make art, be it bad or good.

why bad art? shouldn't people be trying to make good art?

sure, if they want to. not everyone makes art with the intention of improving their skills -- some people make art for stress relief, or to have something to do with their kids, or to make a political statement, or for therapy, or as a form of protest, or as a statement on the art world, or to be in public without having to talk to people, or to get through medical treatment or or or. it's not all about "getting better at a specific skill". sometimes a bitch just wants to use only blue paint for three years until he gets over it.

more to the point, there are all kinds of ways to be good or bad at art and all kinds of art that's considered good or bad depending on who you're talking to.

but why wouldn't you want to get better at art?

maybe you do! but maybe you're discouraged because you haven't managed to master that one skill you want to, and you're tempted to give up making art altogether. I am here to tell you that is the devil talking. your art is worthy on its own and it can be bad and that is not only okay, it's rad as fuck.

so what you're saying is I should just make art and not worry about how good it is?
